Stripe To Enable Millions of Merchants To Get Paid in Bitcoin

Stripe Bitcoin
Payments company Stripe along with bitcoin (BTC) payments infrastructure platform OpenNode have formed a partnership to allow Stripe’s merchant customers to instantly convert their payments to bitcoin via the OpenNode app.

Using the app, customers of Stripe will be able to convert incoming payments and any amount of their balance into Bitcoin. The service will be part of a public beta of a new apps marketplace from Stripe slated to launch in the next few weeks.

Through the OpenNode app located in Stripe’s app marketplace, users will be able to convert fiat payments into bitcoin in real time. Businesses can also set an automatic amount of their payments to be converted into bitcoin, or they will be able to manually convert any amount into bitcoin they wish.

Businesses will also be able to view their bitcoin wallets and conversion rates at a glance within the app. The application will also allow businesses to connect directly with their bank accounts enabling accessible bitcoin conversions from fiat at any time.

Stripe's Renewed Interest in Bitcoin

While Stripe had been an early adopter of Bitcoin payments, the company ended support for the cryptocurrency in 2018, citing slow transaction times, rising fees and a lack of interest from customers as reasons for the decision.

The latest partnership with OpenNode, which specializes in Bitcoin shows Stripe’s renewed interest in the flagship cryptocurrency.
