"We have developed 12 use-cases wherein Blockchain technology can be used to solve some of the issues faced by citizens… in the coming days we are coming up multiple initiatives such as setting up incubator," Devi said.
Devi was addressing the media at the launch of T-Block, an initiative by the Telangana government with Industrial elite's Tech Mahindra. T-Block would act as a Blockchain Accelerator. The Startups which would make the cut into the accelerator will be given a one-week boot camp, followed by a month-long training program, under the tutelage of renowned experts in the startup and blockchain departments.
The Indian Government has lately been pondering over the potential of blockchain technology, and even the possibility of a digital rupee is being given a thought. Recently, Ravi Shankar Prasad, the Indian Telecoms and IT Minister, said that he believes blockchain can transform education, especially the government schools. He also asked NIC to take a firm interest in the blockchain field and develop means and methods which would provide these startups with a platform to perform and be part of the technical developments.
On the other hand, cryptocurrencies have been put on hold, and are fearing an outright ban. The RBI vs Crypto case hearing is recently concluded in the Supreme court of India. It is hanging in the balance and it remains to be seen what the future holds for the crypto space in India.
