Responding to a tweet shared by the founder of Tesla Console, Ryan Zohoury about a recently opened Tesla charging station in Santa Monica, Musk confirmed that the area comes with 'a futuristic diner/drive-in theater' planned for the Hollywood area. What's more, the new Santa Monica Superchargers also comes with the option to accept Musk’s favorite cryptocurrency Doegcoin (DOGE) as a payment method.
Apart from Tesla charging stations, Elon Musk recently hinted that both Starlink and SpaceX could accept Dogecoin in the future. In fact, the electric car manufacturing company trial-tested Dogecoin as a payment method at the end of last year by selling some of its merchandise. In fact, SpaceX is also testing DOGE payments as the cryptocurrency was recently spotted in the source code of SpaceX earlier this week.
SpaceX has been bullish on Dogecoin for a very long time, having recently launched a Moon mission last year called 'DOGE-1 Mission to the Moon' that was funded entirely in DOGE. The launch was initially planned for the first quarter of this year but recent updates indicate a March 2022 release.
SpaceX’s vice president of commercial sales, Tom Ochinero stated that the mission would demonstrate the application of cryptocurrency beyond Earth and at the same time establish the foundation for interplanetary commerce.
