The Dubai-themed metaverse would be built on the same principles as Sandbox's Hong Kong "Mega City," a gaming metaverse and virtual culture center based in the Asian financial hub of Hong Kong.
Animoca Brands stated that the Dubaiverse would be established through local collaborations, an approach similar to that used in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong-based blockchain game specialist would collaborate with businesses in the entertainment, banking, real estate, acting, and gaming sectors. Sebastien Borget, co-founder and COO of Sandbox Paris, stated that other location-based metaverses are being developed for Singapore, Korea, and Turkey.
In a historic collaboration in the metaverse, the Dubai crypto regulator, Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA), became the first buyer of a property on the Dubaiverse virtual map. The Khaleej Times will be the local news partner of the Dubaiverse.
Last Thursday, the gaming software and venture capital firm Animoca Brands revealed that Temasek, Boyu Capital, and GGV Capital had invested $110 million in the company.
