According to Emirates Airline’s chief operating officer (COO), Adel Ahmed Al-Redha, the airline company has plans to add “bitcoin as a payment service.” He disclosed this information at a media gathering at the Arabian travel market on May 12.
In addition to Bitcoin payments, the company also plans to launch a metaverse and NFT trading platform, as an effort to develop applications for monitoring customer needs. According to the executive, NFT collectibles will be added to the company’s website for trading.
“With the metaverse, you will be able to transform your whole processes whether it is in operation, training, sales on the website, or complete experience into a metaverse type application, but more importantly making it interactive,” Al-Redha said.
The news to embrace bitcoin came just a few weeks after the airline's company initially revealed its NFT and metaverse plans.
The company’s goal with the metaverse launch is to ensure the airline is “aligned with the UAE’s vision for the digital economy.”
