WeChat Joins Vechain’s Digital Carbon Ecosystem by Launching QingTanHui Life Program

Digital Carbon Ecosystem

On September 17, 2019, Vechain announced that WeChat had joined their Digital Carbon Ecosystem with the launch of low carbon link WeChat mini-program, dubbed as QingTanHui.

The mini-program is projected to reach approximately one billion WeChat users in china. It uses carbon credits to enable New Energy Vehicle (BYD NEW) owners to earn cash for their environmental protection practices. WeChat users would be able to access the mini-program by scanning a QR code.

Vechain’s Digital Carbon System is aimed at bringing blockchain technology to ordinary people in their day to day activities and in the process help to change the world for the better.

QingTanHui Life Program

QingTanHui went public in the first week of September 2019. This made WeChat the most recent partner to express interest in joining VeChain and DNV GL certifiers to create a blockchain-based Digital Carbon Ecosystem program.

In Vechain’s Digital Carbon Ecosystem, carbon credits are a Cryptocurrency that can be redeemed for goods and services from supporting institutions and market places.

“As consumers engage in low carbon behaviors (say, by purchasing low-carbon products), they earn a carbon reduction credit which can be redeemed for benefits from other ecosystem partners such as retailers or even financial services providers.”

WeChat Users will gain blockchain-based carbon credits, and non-blockchain-based (green Energy) power credits points for carrying out eco-friendly activities.

QingTanHui Life will reward points to users who link their BYD hybrids or electric vehicles to gain credits or those who recycle and use smart appliances (Haier’s) at home.

Green Energy’s role is to attract enterprises and individual into the ecosystem as early as possible. WeChat users will earn Green Energy points by participating in activities like walking or recycling, which promote carbon reduction activities.

VeChain uses VeChainThor blockchain to store carbon reduction data, which is later used to calculate how much carbon credits a user has earned. As the product is still in its developmental phase, the features are not yet available to WeChat users.

QingTanHui Life is expected to go a long way in getting millions of people on earth to participate in protecting the planet actively.

About VeChain’s Digital Carbon Ecosystem

Vechain’s Carbon Digital Ecosystem is a carbon reduction platform powered by blockchain and IoT. It employs incentives to encourage people and institutions to participate in the reduction of carbon emissions.

VeChain works together with DNV GL, an independent third party that is mandated with the verification of data uploaded to VeChain blockchain. DND GL also uses carbon reduction models designs to execute smart contracts and issues carbon credits to individual users, according to their calculated carbon reduction equivalents.

Among the biggest participators in the VeChain Digital Carbon Ecosystem, including BYD, which is the world’s largest electric vehicle manufacturer, Haier, the world's largest appliance manufacturer, Renji Hospital, DIG and Norway in a Box.
