As stated in a press release from the program's academic director Kevin Werbach, the program aims to give business professionals a better grasp of opportunities in the growing metaverse economy and better skills to handle problems there.
Other prestigious American colleges have adopted Web3 technology as teaching aids, including Stanford University and Duke University courses, which offer completion certificates as non-fungible tokens (NFTs). However, the new curriculum at Wharton is among the first to integrate the metaverse as business potential. The metaverse business course was created by Wharton and Prysm Group, a business consultancy organization. The six-week asynchronous program contains over 50 lecture videos, with guest speakers from Adobe, Animoca Brands, Second Life, Unity, and more.
This asynchronous, online program by Wharton seeks to teach business executives at their own pace how to apply this multipurpose technology to their companies and create value for the world economy. The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, established in 1881 as the first undergraduate business school in the world, is influencing the direction of the business through developing leaders who will alter the world and incubate ideas. More than 235 prominent professors make up the faculty.
