What If Nfts Could Drive Tangible, Positive Benefits For The Environment

flow3rs
Flowcarbon, a climate technology creating carbon reduction and removal solutions, set out to prove exactly that with the launch of its Flow3rs collection, an NFT project for environmental good. Flow3rs consists of 200 pieces of digital art created by eight world renowned artists, in which the bulk of proceeds will go toward retiring carbon offsets from verified, nature based projects around the world.

Flow3rs aims to shift the narrative that NFTs are detrimental to the environment, instead showing that they can not only be carbon neutral but positive for the world around us. The collection represents a new frontier for NFTs and the collaboration between new communities like the art world and climate action.

The purchase of each Flow3rs NFT contributes to scaling the voluntary carbon market, a crucial step in the fight against climate change. Carbon credits represent a massive opportunity to invest in projects around the world. In the case of Flow3rs, this can be done while owning a unique piece of digital art and physical art, as each NFT comes with a signed physical counterpart. Collectors will be able to not only own beautiful art, but demonstrate their positive environmental impact to all who see it.

Flow3rs envisions a world in which new communities, like the art community, have the ability to produce ongoing, meaningful climate impact by engaging with the world in a way that they are already comfortable with.  Projects handpicked by Flowcarbon all have a measurable impact on carbon reduction and include the Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve Project in Indonesia, the Valparaiso Project in Brazil and the NIHT Topaiyo REDD+ Project in Papua New Guinea.

The Flow3rs collection features 200 unique pieces created by world renowned artists: Danny Cole, Olive Allen, Andre Oshea, Lindsey Byrnes, Franky Nines, Ezra Br0wn, Maxwell Tilse, and Gabriel Bouchard. Each artist was inspired by humanity's impact on the natural world, producing vastly different but equally beautiful pieces ranging from photography to AI aided art to old school inspired cartoons.

“What’s more important than saving the only home we have — our planet? Climate change threatens every living being on Earth and our own survival. But there is still a chance to turn things around," said Allen. "And I’m prioritizing working with the companies actively building solutions to save Earth from catastrophic impacts."

Flowcarbon's main mission has always been to drive climate action through technology and financial innovations in order to scale the voluntary carbon market. Flow3rs serves as an integral part of that vision by engaging Web3 communities and artists who are passionate about the power of web3 to harness collective action for the planet.

The initial Flow3rs showcase auction raised $71.5k from the sale of just eight pieces of digital art, offsetting more than 5,000 tonnes of CO2e from its projects. The General Auction is now underway where anyone can bid for a randomized selection of beautiful pieces, contributing to a rapid return to carbon neutrality for the world. To place a bid, head to mint.flow3rs.io, and to find out more about the project, go to flow3rs.io.
