The blockchain-based voting app, Voatz, which was alleged to have vulnerabilities by many researchers, will not be used for the coming elections in West Virginia. This means that the overseas and disabled voters would no longer be able to vote with the mobile application during state elections.
2. US Treasury Sanctions Chinese Officials Over the Lazarus Group Hack
The United States Treasury’s Department, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has sanctioned two Chinese officials and accused them of cryptocurrency laundering. OFAC accused the two to of being connected to a 2018 cryptocurrency exchange hack by the Lazarus Group.
3. Central Bank Of Bahamas Launches Sand Dollar On Abaco Island
The Deputy Prime Minister of Bahamas and the Minister of Finance, K. Peter Turnquest, has announced the launch of the Sand Dollar Project on the island of Abaco. The Deputy Prime Minister stated that now the Abaconians would have easier access to financial services.
4. Rakuten Wallet To Launch Cryptocurrency Margin Trading
Rakuten Wallet, the cryptocurrency exchange platform and wallet from Japan, has decided to offer cryptocurrency margin trading to its customer base. As declared on Monday, the platform is aiming to introduce new services during the coming spring. However, Raketen Wallet has already begun the process of registration for the forthcoming services.
5. National Bank of Fujairah Partners With Ripple Network
National Bank of Fujairah PJSC (NBF) disclosed its partnership with leading blockchain technology company Ripple via a press release. The partnership would enable NBF to provide smooth cross border payments using the platform of RippleNet.
6. Akbank-Binance Partners To Initiate Deposits And Withdrawals Of TRY
Binance has announced its integration with a leading Turkish bank, Akbank. Binance has mentioned that after integration the users could easily deposit and withdraw Turkish Lira (TRY) on the exchange. 8. Coinbase Registers with Japan’s JVCEA as Second Class Member
Official regulatory organization for Japan's cryptocurrency industry, the Japan Virtual Currency Exchange Association (JVCEA) announced the registration of three-second class members, among which is leading cryptocurrency exchange, Coinbase. The other two include Tokyo Hash and Digital Asset Markets.
9. ‘Building Stablecoins on XRP Ledger’: Ripple
Ripple announced it will be unveiling a new feature that would allow third parties to launch their own cryptocurrencies on the XRP ledger. The firm has not yet disclosed further details concerning the new feature. However, Ripple Chief Technology Officer David Schwartz suggested the new feature will serve fixed value tokens such as stablecoins.
